BAD NIGHT OUT.
I went with my daughter and friends to girls night out on Friday and will never step into this place again.
The waitress was very friendly and the restaurant looked OK, no problem there. Our appetizer was good. The wait was a little long but that was still OK. I ordered a pizza intending to take lefovers to work the next day. Since I had really eaten too much appetizer I only ate one slice of pizza. The pizza did taste very good since I like tomatoes and garlic and it is hard to find it on pizza locally.
I ask the waitress for a to-go box for my pizza. She brought the box to me and that is went my night out became a nightmare.
WHEN I OPENED THE PIZZA BOX ROACHES RAN EVERYWHERE!!!! I just about lost my food I had just eaten. I ran with the box still in my hands and demanded to see the manager. By the time he was found all but one of the ROACHES were gone from the box. The one roach jumped onto the counter when I opened it for him. He chased the roach over the back of the counter (dont know were it went). The manger then tore into the poor waitress "Where did you get that box ?" as if she had gone out for a pizza box full of roaches. He followed me back to my table and explained to us that " The waitress was suppose to check the box before she brought it out" I was too dumbfounded at the time to even ask him what the procedure was when they found roaches...throw them out..catch em.....or cook them up in sauce?????
He took off for the pizza and so I ended up paying almost $30.00 for my daughters small serving of meat lasagna (ate before the roaches ) and appetizer which I left the remains of with the pizza and two cokes.. I would recommend this restaurant to only enemies. After seeing the roaches and his treatment of employees I was not empressed and really wanted to tell other patrons as I left "watch out for roaches".

It's hard to judge a restaurant by just one visit, but that's all i am going to have to go on, since i am never coming back there again. We had a rehearsal dinner the night before out wedding there. There were a total of 10 of us. It all started out fairly nice. The appetizers were delicious. But it went down hill from there. We were waiting for over an hour for our entrees. We kept asking about it, and the waitress kept telling us it's coming out. Eventually, when we were ready to just walk out we started to get our food. Some of it was very good, however two of the meals were completely burned on the bottom of the plates, i am guessing from where they sat in the warmers for so long. My own meal, a special that night (grilled halibut), was completely cold and even if it was hot, it would still be nowhere close to being worth $25.00 price. it was very simple, something you could get at long john silvers. The burned plates belong to my future parents-in-law. They didn't eat anything the whole night because of it. My wife was upset and it completely ruined our evening.
I highly recommend you take your business somewhere, in my opinion this place is not worth it.
Best Italian in Johson City. Alta Cucina is by far the best Italian restaurant in Johnson City. Don't bother with the chain restaurants. Everything is made from scratch. We have eaten here many times and have never had a dish we didn't like. Even the free bread, served with olive oil and fresh herbs, is to die for. The owner is there almost every time we go, and has even seated us several times. We are always greeted warmly and served well. While slightly higher than some of the chain restaurants, the prices are reasonable considering the quality, quantity, and taste of the food. For truly fresh Italian food, do not waste your time anywhere else.
Excellent service and fresh Italian food!!. This is the best Italian in the tri-cities area. Comparable to any Italian in any major city. The chicken marsala is the best I have ever had. I highly recommmend it for dates too!
Alta Cucina is wonderful. Alta Cucina is the best restaurant in Johnson City by far. I did not know such a place existed in this city mostly crowded with chain restaurants. Alta Cucina has incredible food, great wine, and good service. The bread they promptly bring out is fabulus as is the soups that I have had. Everything is made from scratch and has great flavor. The stuffed chicken is my favorite. It is also a romantic place to bring a date. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!!!!!!!!!
Johnson City's Best Kept Secret. Alta Cucina is by far the best Italian Resturant that Johnson City has. I had passed by this resturant many times not thinking it would be a place I would want to eat at since it is in an old Hardee's building. I then heard a co-worker talking about it. I ask the co-worker to gp with me one day at lunch. I have been back many times. I normally try something differant on each visit. I have no complaints. Everything I have tried is wonder. Salads, entrees, the bread, desserts, the coffee. One of the other reasons that I like this place is the service. I have always had great service. It is also a romantic place believe it or not. I highly recommend Alta Cucina. Check out their web site for a menu. I promise you will love it.
